Cutting Tool Design Engineer
Location: Toledo, OH area
Position opened due to retirement of a long‑term employee.
Responsibilities
- Product Innovation: Design and develop new cutting tools and refine existing products to provide higher value and better performance for users.
- Technical Standards: Establish and maintain technical specifications and product standards for the company’s tool catalog.
- Research & Benchmarking: Lead research into new grinding techniques and materials, and perform machine tests to benchmark tool performance against competitors.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with marketing, sales, and manufacturing teams to align product designs with customer needs and production feasibility.
- Technical Support: Provide expert advice on tool geometries, materials, and proper machining applications.
- Project Management: Coordinate development projects from initial technical feasibility through production and design optimization.
- Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all company policies, safety protocols (like Lockout/Tagout), and quality manual procedures.
- Other duties as directed by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a similar cutting tool design engineer role.
- Experience designing cutting tools, including high performance solid carbide rotary tools.
- General understanding of advanced milling techniques.
- Basic project management skills, including overseeing timelines.
- Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

Location
Candidates are preferred to be local to the Toledo, Ohio area. Relocation is available for candidates meeting all requirements.
