Job summary

Graphic Packaging International, LLC in Newton, IA is seeking a Cutting Operator to support the die-cutting team, emphasizing safety and productivity.

You will make-ready, adjust, and run jobs, inspect dies, fix minor defects, and maintain equipment, while recording production data in SAP.

Candidates should have strong mechanical aptitude, color vision, the ability to follow complex instructions, and flexibility to work overtime on multiple shifts.

• Prior folding carton experience preferred.

• Make-ready, adjust, and run jobs as efficiently as possible to meet safety and productivity standards
• Examine job order to determine quantity to be cut, stock specifications, and special die cutting instructions
• Examine cutting dies for visual defects and apply correcting solution to repair minor defects
• Make necessary adjustments to ensure quality
• Ensure information is communicated between shifts
• Perform proper and required maintenance as well as cleaning of Die Cutter
• Maintenance duties include stooping under machinery, entering confined spaces and climbing ladders
• Accurately record production metrics through SAP
• Performs all other duties as assigned

Job Details

The Die Cutting Operator supports the Die Cutting Manager in providing support, direction, and training to achieve KPI improvements through driving operational performance. Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform job duties in accordance with our policies and procedures


• Make-ready, adjust, and run jobs as efficiently as possible to meet safety and productivity standards


• Examine job order to determine quantity to be cut, stock specifications, and special die cutting instructions


• Examine cutting dies for visual defects and apply correcting solution to repair minor defects


• Make necessary adjustments to ensure quality


• Ensure information is communicated between shifts


• Perform proper and required maintenance as well as cleaning of Die Cutter


• Maintenance duties include stooping under machinery, entering confined spaces and climbing ladders

• Performs all other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

• Strong mechanical aptitude/skills


• Ability to work with minimal supervision


• Ability to understand technical written and verbal instructions


• Strong computer and math skills required


• Ability to accurately distinguish color variation


• Must be able to work other shifts and overtime as necessary

Required Experience:

• Prior folding carton experience preferred

Physical Demands:

• Occasional bending, reaching, twisting and stooping


• Ability to read computer screens and other electronic devices


• Occasional squatting and kneeling for cleaning and clearing jams


• Pushing/pulling/lifting to 50 lbs.


• Ability to distingusih color

PAY RANGE: $25.61 - $37.96

Employees must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
