Job summary

The University of Minnesota in Minneapolis is seeking a full-time Bioinformatics Analyst to support the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. You will design and implement informatics workflows, analyze complex genomics datasets, and collaborate with diverse lab groups to advance translational research.

Ideal candidates have strong experience with NGS analyses (variant calling, assembly, metagenomics, RNA-seq), proficiency in Linux and scripting, and the ability to translate biological aims

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent with substantial bioinformatics experience in genomics.
• 3+ years of research experience in genomics, genetics, molecular biology or computational biology.
• Experience developing pipelines for high-throughput sequencing datasets.
• Proficiency with Linux shell, a programming language (R or Python), and common tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a bioinformatics analyst and developer for DMI projects, designing workflows.
• Consult with researchers on experimental design and planning.
• Identify and integrate new molecular technologies and analysis methods.
• Prepare and present methods across reports, literature reviews and seminars.
