Cutter/Grinder Operator - Heavy Metals - 2nd Shift

Job Purpose:

Responsible for sharpening various types of milling cutters, drills, taps, or turning tools as required, manufacturing special form relieved cutters, and maintaining inventory of cutter grinding supplies. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Maintain quality standards and record quality results.

Job Duties:
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques to maximize effective manufacturing and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools including design, use, repair, and maintenance. Ability to determine necessary tools and equipment.
  • Conduct tests and inspections to evaluate product or process quality and performance.
  • Monitor gauges, dials, and indicators to ensure proper machine operation.
  • Be detail-oriented, meticulous, and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Use logic and reasoning to analyze solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Understand implications of new information for current and future decision-making.
  • Recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong with equipment.
  • Concentrate on tasks over extended periods and apply general rules to specific problems to produce viable solutions.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Analyzing information, manufacturing methods, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of GD&T is beneficial.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills, analytical and shop math skills.
  • Proficiency with measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, depth gauges, and size blocks.
