Job summary

Atlas Molded Products is seeking a Machine Operator - Cutter for the 1st shift at our Byron Center, MI facility. The role focuses on operating and supporting cutting operations within the production department, maintaining quality and safety standards.

The successful candidate will report to the shift manager, work with basic hand tools and measuring devices, and help ensure on-time production while keeping work areas clean and organized. A manufacturing background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have strong problem solving and numeric skills.
• Fluent in English, written and spoken.
• Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Report to Manager at shift start for direction for the day.
• Understand manufacturing processes, quality standards, equipment operations, safety requirements and departmental procedures.
• Inspect and package parts according to specification pages and record information on in-process sheets.
• Cut, bundle, wrap, stack, pack, assemble and label materials per production instructions.
• Operate or assist with machinery such as block cutting, hauling, and wrapping equipment.
• Verify equipment set-up throughout the process; operate and power down manufacturing equipment.
• Maintain productivity standards and ensure final products meet quality tolerance.
• Verify shipping and receiving of all materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Knowledge of Pre-breakers / Re-Grinding equipment to recycle EPS.
• Perform other functions as assigned.
• Must be trained and familiar with general safety and Quality System Awareness.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities (Other duties as assigned)

• Report to Manager at shift start for direction for the day.
• General understanding of the manufacturing processes, quality standards, equipment operations, safety requirements and departmental procedures.

• Cut, bundle, wrap, stack, pack, assemble and label materials per specific production instructions.
• Operate or assist with machinery such as, but not limited to block cutting, hauling, and wrapping equipment.
• Verify equipment set-up throughout the process; operate and power down manufacturing
• Maintain productivity standards and verify all job requirements of the final products with the correct density, material, weight, size, and shape within given quality tolerance to meet specific job requirements.
• Verify shipping and receiving of all materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate Pre-breakers / Re-Grinding equipment to recycle EPS.
• Perform any other functions and responsibilities as assigned.
• Must be trained and familiar with general safety.
• Must be trained and familiar with Quality System Awareness.
• Must be verified by supervisor and be signed off on procedures needed to fulfill job requirements within 2 months of hire.
• Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is required.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment preferred.

Skills & Abilities

• Problem solving and critical thinking desired
• Fluent in the English language, both written and spoken, preferred.
• Must be able to use simple math, count and use basic hand-held measuring tools.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Light to moderate physical effort required including sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, climbing steps or ladders, grasping, fine and course manipulation, reaching both forward and above head level, and tolerant of temperature changes for the entire shift.
• Must be able to push,pulland/orlift upto 50pounds;and safelyoperateassigned machinery.
