Fehrer Automotive, NA is seeking a Customs and Tariff Specialist to ensure full regulatory compliance for import/export activities and tariff management across international shipments.
You will work with supply chain, purchasing, logistics, and finance to optimize landed costs, monitor tariff changes, and support broker coordination. Strong analytical skills and SAP experience are essential.
The Customs and Tariff Specialist is responsible for ensuring full compliance with all import and export regulations, customs requirements, tariff classifications, and international trade laws. This position supports daily international shipping operations while minimizing risk, controlling duty costs, and maintaining compliance with U.S. and global trade regulations.
The role works closely with supply chain, purchasing, logistics, finance, customs brokers, freight forwarders, suppliers, and government agencies to ensure efficient movement of goods across international borders.
This position also monitors changing tariff activity, trade agreements, and government regulations that impact business operations, sourcing strategies, and landed costs.

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, International Business, Logistics, Business Administration, Finance, or related field preferred. Three to 7 years of experience in customs compliance, international trade, import/export operations, or tariff administration. Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. Automotive industry experience preferred. Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Bi-lingual communication in both English and Spanish is preferred.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to perform cost and duty calculations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
