Job description

Overview:

The Customs & Imports Manager plays a pivotal role in enhancing our logistics and customs processes for inbound shipments to our US and Canada warehouses. This position offers a unique opportunity to streamline operations, develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), and implement best practices that drive efficiency and compliance. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in customs, logistics, and freight forwarding to create innovative solutions that benefit the entire organization.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Manage logistics of inbound shipments to both US and Canada warehouses.
  2. Request freight quotes for sea and air shipments (including LCL and FTL) to identify the best routes, transit times, and costs.
  3. Work with customs brokers to manage customs imports and submit necessary documentation for proper customs entry.
  4. Process Duty Drawback Claims by completing related import data files.
  5. Coordinate shipment schedules with all global vendors.
  6. Monitor the warehouse receipt process by analyzing ASN tracking tables and coordinating with Operations Teams for the receipt of overage/shortage units.
  7. Manage the inventory transfer process between warehouses.
  8. Stay informed on customs processes, global trade agreements, and logistical updates, keeping company stakeholders informed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs and imports management.
  2. Strong understanding of logistics, customs regulations, and trade compliance.
  3. Proficient in logistics management software and MS Office Suite.
  4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with vendors and internal teams.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  2. Relevant experience in the apparel and fashion industry is a plus.

Compensation:

$100,000 - $110,000. Kindthread encourages applications from candidates at all levels, and pay will be based on experience.
