About The Role

Confluent is seeking a Customer Success Technical Architect (CSTA) to serve as a trusted technical advisor for our customers. The role focuses on ensuring customer success, retention, and expansion by providing technical guidance on best practices for the Confluent product suite. You will collaborate with Customer Solutions, Sales, Product Management, and Engineering teams to help customers accelerate value realization, maximize product use, and meet business goals.

This position combines technical expertise and commercial acumen. You will leverage your background in AppDev, SysAdmin, or Distributed Computing to advise on architecture, patterns, and strategies for operating and maturing Confluent subscriptions. You will also use relationship management skills to guide customers toward achieving their business outcomes with Confluent.

You will gain experience with Kafka, Flink, and Confluent IP, as well as understanding of related technologies. You will work with diverse organizations, from startups to large enterprises, building relationships, ensuring delivery standards, and helping customers develop advanced data streaming platforms. Location: US Remote.

What You Will Do

• Advocate for customers within Confluent, representing their technical needs and insights across teams.
• Address customer technical objections and develop strategies to overcome adoption blockers.
• Support customers through architecture planning, security design, monitoring, automation, and upgrade/migration guidance.
• Help customers advance their data streaming maturity with recommendations on technical topics like data mesh and performance tuning.
• Present periodic reviews analyzing technical health and operational performance to senior management.
• Document knowledge transfer to customers and internal teams to foster self-sufficiency and improve support.
• Influence Confluent product roadmap based on customer environments and use cases.
• Assist with resolving customer issues alongside Support Engineers and Engineering teams.

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor's degree in CS, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent experience.
• Proven success in a technical role with enterprise SaaS customers.
• Passion for solving complex technical problems and understanding modern infrastructure and streaming tech.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex issues to diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple customers and initiatives effectively.
• Collaborative mindset, relationship management skills, and adaptability.
• Hands-on experience with cloud vendors (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Knowledge of cloud networking/security (VPC, TLS, Kerberos, etc.).
• Experience coding in languages like Java, Python, or Go.
• JVM tuning and troubleshooting skills.
• Linux configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting experience (RedHat, Debian).
• Quick learner with a strong interest in new technologies.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

What Gives You An Edge

• Confluent Developer or Administrator certifications.
• Experience with Apache Kafka & Flink.
