Customer Success & Business Development Specialist - GovTech SaaS

Location: Remote (PST hours ±2hrs)

About Us

We provide grants and loans management software for U.S. city and county governments, helping jurisdictions manage affordable housing and public services programs funded by HUD programs such as CDBG and HOME. Our mission is to simplify grant administration, improve compliance, and enable communities to better serve their residents.

After 15 years of success the company is undergoing a major modernization project to transform our platform and expand the jurisdictions and funding sources we serve.

The Role

We're seeking a Customer Success & Business Development Specialist who can both support existing clients and help grow our customer base. This dual role combines account management with business growth opportunities, perfect for someone from a B2B SaaS background who excels at building relationships and identifying expansion potential. While government experience is a plus, we value transferable skills that align with our compliance-focused environment.

What You'll Do

Customer Success Responsibilities:

  • Guide customers through software implementation and usage, issue resolution
  • Handle support tickets and coordinate technical issue resolution via video call and email
  • Act as a main point of contact for key customer accounts
  • Ensure we deliver new features and customer onboarding on our agreed timelines
  • Deliver customer training calls to new users of our product
  • Coordinate with the engineering team to define product changes

Business Development Responsibilities:

  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing customer accounts
  • Support outreach to potential new jurisdictions, particularly beyond California
  • Assist with demos and presentations for prospective customers
  • Help develop expansion strategies for new funding sources and grant programs
  • Contribute to proposals and RFP responses for new business opportunities

Required Skills & Experience

  • 1-3 years in customer success, account management, or sales support for B2B software
  • Experience diagnosing software related bugs to create engineering tickets and run QA
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • Experience with CRM tools and tracking customer interactions
  • Excellent documentation and experience defining SOPs and CS team KPIs
  • Ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfort working in a remote environment with a small team
  • Demonstrated ability to identify growth opportunities within existing accounts

Highly Desirable Skills

  • Experience supporting customers in regulated industries with compliance requirements
  • Background in identifying upsell opportunities or expanding customer accounts
  • Knowledge of or interest in public sector, community development, or affordable housing
  • Experience participating in sales cycles or customer expansion initiatives
  • Experience working in an unstructured environment
