Job Description

Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance. These associates learn about products using our tools, and provide information to customers in order to sell an entire project. They learn how to greet, qualify, recommend, and close every customer in their department and know how to handle basics in adjacent departments. Associates maintain the in‑stock condition of assigned areas, ensuring it is clean, shop‑able, and safe. Each associate has the responsibility of providing a safe working and shopping environment by following all safety policies and standards, completing specified safety training, immediately correcting hazards and unsafe conditions, or reporting them to the Manager on Duty. They work in cooperation with their Department Supervisor and other associates in their department as well as other departments. Specific store departments may include Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing and Tool Rental.

Paid vacation: Salaried associates are eligible for 2 weeks of vacation in their first year; full‑time hourly employees are eligible for 40 hours after 6 months; part‑time employees are eligible for 20 hours after 6 months; temporary associates are not eligible for vacation benefits.

Sick time (Washington State – Spokane, Tacoma): salary and temporary associates earn 1 hour per 40 hours worked; full‑time hourly earn 1 hour per 40 hours or 4 hours per month, whichever is greater; part‑time earn 1 hour per 40 hours or 2 hours per month, whichever is greater. Sick time (Seattle): salary and temporary associates earn 1 hour per 30 hours worked; full‑time hourly earn 1 hour per 30 hours or 4 hours per month, whichever is greater; part‑time earn 1 hour per 30 hours or 2 hours per month, whichever is greater.
