Mechanics Bank seeks a full-time Customer Service Representative II at the Harbor City Branch to grow customer relationships, provide teller services, and offer product recommendations. Mechanics Bank is seeking a full-time Customer Service Representative II at the Harbor City Branch. The role focuses on acquisition, retention, and expansion of new and existing customer relationships, delivering exceptional customer service by guiding the customer experience from introduction through profiling, needs assessment, and product recommendations based on Mechanics Bank offerings. Provide teller services and perform processing tasks while maintaining superior customer service at all times.
Interview and profile new and existing customers to recommend appropriate banking products and services.
Partner with other business lines to identify sales opportunities and deliver an outstanding customer experience.
Open and close customer accounts including checking, savings, money markets, certificates of deposit, and IRAs.
Identify and act on sales opportunities, cross-sell bank products and services, ensure products meet customer needs, and make referrals to other business units for non-banking products.
Participate in sales programs to generate new customers.
Sell financial products and services to meet referral goals and performance targets.
Maintain thorough knowledge of bank products and services.
Actively listen to customers and maintain a friendly, professional attitude; resolve difficult situations with creativity, tact and diplomacy.
Support branch lobby management.
Demonstrate proficiency in providing exceptional customer service utilizing the STAR qualities (Seamless, Trustworthy, Attentive, Resourceful) in person or on the telephone.
Look for ways to exceed customer expectations and surprise them with above-and-beyond service.
Participate in two community events per year.
Process daily teller services including deposits, withdrawals, holds, loan payments, stop payments, transfers, direct deposits, cash advances, verifications of deposit, debit card requests, wire transfers, and related tasks.
Balance cash drawer independently and maintain cash over/short records per policy.
May be assigned control of vault cash; follow guidelines to maintain limits, meet cash shipment requirements, and balance daily.
Perform responsibilities such as ATM processing and balancing, daily branch balancing, Customer Information System input, branch supply orders, and monthly branch reports.
Assist other CSRs in completing work assignments and balancing.
Participate in branch audit functions.
Follow Mechanics Bank policies and procedures and meet regulatory requirements.
Perform all other duties as required.
Actively listen to customers and maintain a friendly, positive, professional attitude; resolve difficult situations with creativity, tact and diplomacy.

Minimum of 2 years cash handling and customer service experience; banking experience preferred.
Some experience in opening new deposit accounts preferred.
Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Demonstrated success in cross-selling banking services and products.
Strong customer relations skills and ability to communicate and work well with employees and customers in a cooperative, positive manner.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
PC experience required; Word, Excel, and teller/bank software preferred.
Must be a self-starter, dependable, able to work within deadlines under pressure.
Good judgment and ability to handle confidential information.
Ability to work quickly and accurately, analyze information, and make decisions.
Willingness to assume additional responsibilities/duties/projects as they arise.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
