Customer Service Representative (Clerical Assistant 3)

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer service?

In this role, you will serve as a Customer Service Representative (CSR) at PennDOT's Driver and Vehicle Services Customer Care Center. Your main duties involve addressing inquiries related to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), the Bureau of Driver Licensing (BDL), the Bureau of REAL ID (BRI), and other areas within PennDOT. You will be instrumental in maintaining PennDOT's positive image by providing accurate, comprehensive, and courteous information to the public.

Position Overview:

You will handle a variety of inquiries concerning Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) and other topics within PennDOT through phone, email, and online communication channels. Emphasis is placed on customer satisfaction, requiring active listening, insightful questioning, and clear communication. You will assess customer needs, offer guidance, and make independent judgments to resolve issues effectively. Additionally, you will compose and modify written correspondence, including personalized email responses.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time, 40 hours/week
  • Work hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch
  • May be required to work during authorized office closings
  • Telework: Potential for part-time telework after successful probation, requiring a secure high-speed internet connection and an approved home location in Pennsylvania. Otherwise, reporting to the Enola office is available.
  • Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in some cases.

Qualifications:

  • At least one year as a Clerical Assistant 2 or equivalent, or one year of moderately complex clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Harrisburg for at least 6 weeks for training and orientation.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PC or laptop
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in a call center and customer service
  • Bilingual abilities
