Job summary

Kinder Morgan's Shipyard River Terminal in Charleston, SC seeks an organized dispatcher/logistics coordinator to manage tank truck and rail/barge movements. You will handle PMOs, update Galahad and TMS, calculate weights, and maintain data accuracy while delivering customer service excellence.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in liquids/industrial environments, DOT knowledge, and strong math/Excel skills. A valid license and ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting are required.

Qualifications

  • Must have excellent math skills (addition, subtraction, percentages, fractions) and be detail oriented.
  • Proficient in Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of TP Vision and/or other inventory systems (TMS).
  • Must be very detail oriented and able to problem solve and troubleshoot.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task with minimal supervision.
  • Must work well in a team and follow directions from supervisors; adhere to schedules and work rules.
  • Must maintain regular attendance and perform tasks quickly, accurately under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional relationships with customers, carriers and Kinder Morgan employees.
  • Process paperwork (PMO) to execute tank truck, tank car, barge/tug, and tank transfers in Galahad, TMS, and inventory systems.
  • Ensure accurate calculations to avoid costly errors.
  • Collaborate across departments to meet customer needs and demands.
  • Create operating orders, handle calls, interface with drivers, and communicate via radio.
  • Issue placards, seals, and COAs to drivers; obtain tare and gross weights; calculate loads.
  • Prepare accurate DOT BOLs meeting KM, DOT, and customer requirements.
  • Enter product movement data in KM and customer systems while delivering strong service.
  • Resolve customer issues with Senior CSR, Ops Supervisor, Crew Leaders, CSRs, and Commercial.

Job description

What We Are Looking For

Shipyard River Terminal - South terminal unloads and loads tank trucks, tank cars, barges, and ships to/from bulk liquid storage tanks that are leased by our Customers. These bulk liquid products include chemicals and petrochemicals.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintain professional relationships with customers, carriers and other Kinder Morgan employees
  • Properly handle paperwork (product movement orders - PMO) to efficiently execute customer tank truck, tank car, barge/tug, tank transfers orders in Kinder Morgan's Galahad inventory system, the Terminal Management System (TMS) and inventory tracking systems.
  • Maintain high level of attention to detail to ensure there are accurate calculations to avoid serious and costly errors
  • Work closely with multiple departments as a team to avoid conflicts and meet all customers needs / multiple demands
  • Must be able to multi-task with shifting priorities
  • Creating plant operating orders, taking phone calls, interfacing with truck drivers, communicating via radio, contacting customers to and resolving conflicts
  • Issue proper placards, seals, and COA’s and to driver
  • Obtain tare and gross weights of tank trucks; calculate quantity of product loaded
  • Create an accurate legal D.O.T. BOL that meets KLM, D.O.T. and customer requirements
  • Accurately complete all product movement data in the KM and customer inventory systems while providing great customer service
  • Follow through on customer related issues to ensure complete customer satisfaction
  • Maintain proficiency and accuracy using product movement orders, Kinder Morgan Order creation system (Galahad), and Kinder Morgan's dual verification procedure
  • Handle issues and problems related to the movement of the customers’ product by interfacing with the Senior CSR, Customer Service Manager, Operations Supervisor, Crew Leaders, CSRs and the Commercial Department to offer and execute solutions and adjustments in a timely manner
  • Must be able to satisfy all customer requirements as the business demands. Promote teamwork among co-workers to ensure all customers are 100% satisfied in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Must be current in DOT certification/training
  • Monitor Customer inventory to ensure sufficient space/product available to complete requested orders to load or discharge tank truck, barges, vessels, tank cars, tugs.
  • Prepare daily / weekly / monthly customer reports
  • Other duties as assigned
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must be able to work quickly, independently and accurately under pressure
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance
Preferred Job Requirements
  • 3-5 years experience working in the liquids or industrial environment
  • Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
  • Experience dispatching, scaling trucks and calculating loads according to DOT regulations
Physical Requirements
  • Include but may not be limited to walking up and down stairs, standing for extending periods of time and carrying up to 25 pounds
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
