Join us at the forefront at Ingalls Memorial as a Customer Service Receptionist in Harvey! The Customer Service Receptionist receives all visitors to the hospital, administers appropriate passes to visitors, provides information assistance to telephone callers, continuously updates patient information and visitor pass files, and performs related duties as assigned. Works in partnership with patient care units, pro-actively assists physicians, and identifies and provides for individual patient and family needs.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Maintains visitor pass files according to department procedures.
  2. Receives all incoming telephone calls and inquiries; greets patients, families, and visitors promptly and courteously. Offers assistance with wheelchairs or other needs to ensure comfort.
  3. Completes HealthStream Education tests before due dates. Maintains strict confidentiality regarding patient and departmental information.
  4. Provides clear directions to visitors and hospital personnel. Demonstrates knowledge of patient room locations and department procedures.
  5. Identifies and resolves interpersonal conflicts with positive outcomes when dealing with co-workers, patients, or other departments.
  6. Follows written goals and objectives for annual review as established and agreed upon in previous evaluations.
  7. Responds accurately to visitor inquiries.
  8. Recognizes potential negative situations early and intervenes immediately.
  9. Uses service recovery techniques to correct issues, create a positive experience, and regain patient loyalty.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Demonstrates basic office skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience creating newsletters.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform office work proficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher).
  • Professional demeanor and outstanding customer service skills.
