Job summary

R1 RCM Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Representative at LifePoint Wilson Medical Center in Wilson, NC. You will be the first point of contact, ensuring patients receive fast, compassionate access to care.

This PRN position offers minimum required hours monthly (48), 24 on-call shifts, and additional shifts available, with a focus on accurate registration and patient support in a busy hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service and assist patients and families with the check-in process across multiple systems.
• Answer phones and gather accurate patient information quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Support timely access to care by minimizing delays in registration and answering questions with confidence and compassion.
• Build trust with patients during moments when they may be ill, anxious, or overwhelmed.
• Navigate diverse insurance plans, enter demographics and medical data, collect co-pays and provide cost estimates when applicable.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and care teams to ensure smooth patient flow.

As a Patient Access Representative you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring they receive fast, compassionate, and accurate access to care.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide exceptional customer service and assist patients and families with the check‑in process working across multiple computer systems to register patients efficiently


• Answer phones and gather accurate patient information quickly in a fast‑paced environment


• Support timely access to care by minimizing delays in registration and answer questions with confidence, clarity, and compassion


• Build trust with patients during moments when they may be ill, anxious, confused, or overwhelmed


• Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details, enter demographics and medical data, collect co‑pays and provide cost estimates when applicable


• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and care teams to ensure smooth patient flow

What We’re Looking For:

• Exceptional customer service experience, communication and interpersonal skills


• Strong composure and professionalism in a fast‑paced environment


• Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly with high attention to detail


• Comfortable with shifting priorities based on patient needs


• Experience with patient access, medical registration, insurance verification, or front desk is a plus (but not required)


• High School Diploma or GED


• Ability to pass background check, drug test, and meet vaccination requirements

For this US‑based position, the base pay range is $14.50 - $18.99 per hour. Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
