The Opportunity
Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis processors.
You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.
The Role
- Prepares the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
- Monitors the donor and the pheresis process, responds to specific alarms or signals that may occur during the process.
- Disconnects the donor when the process is complete.
- Maintains alertness and awareness to any reactions the donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff.
- Uses Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events.
- Links equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor via PDA.
- Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
- Ensures accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as per SOPs.
- Understands policies and procedures related to hyper immune programs if applicable.
- Maintains a clean, efficient work environment and ensures sufficient supplies are available. Follows all HSE and OSHA policies, promoting safety.
- Maintains confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
- May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
- Bilingual skills may be required based on organizational needs.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Your Skills and Experience
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment or equivalent education and experience.
- Performs basic math calculations.
Working Conditions (Physical & Mental Requirements)
- Understands, remembers, and applies oral and written instructions.
- Follows instructions and guidelines.
- Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
- Occasionally performs tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
- Reaches, bends, kneels, and has high manual dexterity.
- Occasionally lifts and carries up to 25 pounds.
- Works in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
- Exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
- Wears PPE as required.
- May need to work overtime and extended hours to support operational needs.
