The Opportunity

Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis processors.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role
  • Prepares the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
  • Monitors the donor and the pheresis process, responds to specific alarms or signals that may occur during the process.
  • Disconnects the donor when the process is complete.
  • Maintains alertness and awareness to any reactions the donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff.
  • Uses Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events.
  • Links equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor via PDA.
  • Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
  • Ensures accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as per SOPs.
  • Understands policies and procedures related to hyper immune programs if applicable.
  • Maintains a clean, efficient work environment and ensures sufficient supplies are available. Follows all HSE and OSHA policies, promoting safety.
  • Maintains confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
  • Bilingual skills may be required based on organizational needs.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Your Skills and Experience
Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment or equivalent education and experience.
  • Performs basic math calculations.
Working Conditions (Physical & Mental Requirements)
  • Understands, remembers, and applies oral and written instructions.
  • Follows instructions and guidelines.
  • Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
  • Occasionally performs tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
  • Reaches, bends, kneels, and has high manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries up to 25 pounds.
  • Works in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
  • Exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Wears PPE as required.
  • May need to work overtime and extended hours to support operational needs.
