The Opportunity
Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis processors.
You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.
The Role
- Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
- Monitor the donor and the pheresis process; respond to alarms or signals during the process.
- Disconnect the donor upon completion of the process.
- Stay alert to any reactions from the donor during or after the process and notify staff accordingly.
- Record incidents such as machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and adverse events using the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
- Link equipment and soft goods used in the process to the appropriate donor via PDA.
- Alert the Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
- Accurately record donor data in the electronic management system as per SOPs.
- Understand policies related to hyper immune programs if applicable.
- Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure supplies are available; follow HSE and OSHA policies, promoting safety.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- Cross-train in other areas as needed.
- Utilize bilingual skills if required by the organization.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Your Skills and Experience
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) months' work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic math skills required.
Working Conditions (Physical & Mental Requirements)
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Observe equipment operation and communicate effectively with customers.
- Stand and walk up to 100% of the time.
- Reach, bend, kneel, and demonstrate manual dexterity.
- Lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
- Be exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens; wear PPE as required.
- Work overtime and extended hours as needed to support operations.
