The Opportunity
Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis processors.
You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.
The Role
- Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
- Monitor the donor and the pheresis process; respond to alarms or signals during the process.
- Disconnect the donor upon completion of the process.
- Maintain alertness to any reactions from the donor during or after pheresis and notify appropriate staff.
- Use Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents such as machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events.
- Link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor via PDA.
- Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
- Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system following SOPs.
- Understand policies related to hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
- Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure sufficient supplies are available. Follow all HSE and OSHA policies, promoting safety in all actions.
- Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
- May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
- Bilingual skills may be required, at organizational discretion.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Your Skills and Experience
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) months' work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment, or equivalent education and experience.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
Working Conditions
- Understand, remember, and apply oral and written instructions.
- Follow basic instructions and guidelines.
- Ability to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
- Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
- Reach, bend, kneel, and possess high manual dexterity.
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Expose to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens; wear PPE as required.
- Work overtime and extended hours to support operational needs.
