The Opportunity
Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis processors.
You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.
The Role
- Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
- Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responding to alarms or signals during the process.
- Disconnect the donor upon completion of the process.
- Maintain alertness to any reactions from the donor during or after pheresis and notify appropriate staff.
- Record incidents during pheresis, such as machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and adverse events, using the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
- Link equipment and soft goods used in pheresis to the donor via PDA.
- Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
- Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic management system following SOPs.
- Understand policies related to hyperimmune programs if applicable.
- Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure availability of supplies, following HSE and OSHA policies. Promote safety in all actions.
- Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
- Possibly cross-train in other areas to meet business needs.
- Bilingual skills may be required as per organizational needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Your Skills and Experience
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- At least three months of work experience, preferably in a medical or health environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic math skills required.
Working Conditions
- Ability to understand, remember, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Follow basic instructions and guidelines.
- Ability to see, speak with customers, and observe equipment operation.
- Occasionally stand and walk up to 100% of the time.
- Reach, bend, kneel, and have manual dexterity.
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens; PPE required.
- Work overtime and extended hours as needed.
