Customer Service Clerk

Position Objective: To assist customers in their shopping experience by providing the most efficient and courteous customer service possible.

Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Office Manager.

Status: This is a non-exempt position.

Knowledge

The following are certifications, formal education, or training requirements:

• Essential Knowledge:
• A liquor license must be obtained prior to the first day of work (if applicable).
• Completion of ongoing training as listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.

• Non-Essential Knowledge:
• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Essential Job Functions

• Implement the Cosentino Customer Service Standards.
• Ensure team members have necessary information (policy updates, merchandise, sales).
• Be knowledgeable about products to answer customer questions accurately and courteously.
• Operate, clean, and maintain equipment safely.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards.
• Maintain a clean and professional front end appearance.
• Handle returns, exchanges, and price adjustments courteously.
• Monitor front end activity and make adjustments as needed.
• Assist cashiers with transactions when requested.
• Act as a cashier when needed to ensure a friendly customer experience.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally and escalate when necessary.
• Comply with health, sanitation, safety, and governmental regulations.

• Navigate the Kronos system for reports under the Office Manager’s direction.
• Support additional tasks and cross-departmental assistance as needed.

Physical Abilities

Employees should be able to:

• Push and pull grocery items and carts (up to 10 lbs).
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Bend and squat to floor level.

Optional abilities include climbing a ladder up to 5 ft.
