A leading grocery store is seeking a Customer Service Clerk to enhance customer experiences through efficient and courteous service. The role includes assisting customers, conducting transactions, and maintaining store standards, all while adhering to health regulations. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills and a high school diploma.
Customer Service Clerk
Position Objective: To assist customers in their shopping experience by providing the most efficient and courteous customer service possible.
Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Office Manager.
Status: This is a non-exempt position.
Knowledge
The following are the certification, education, or training requirements for this position.
Essential Knowledge
* A liquor license must be obtained prior to the first day of work (if applicable).
* Completion of ongoing training as listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.
Non-Essential Knowledge
* A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Essential Job Functions
* Know and implement the Cosentino’s Customer Service Standards.
* Ensure team members have the information needed to perform their roles effectively (e.g., policy updates, merchandise, sales).
* Be knowledgeable about products to answer customer questions accurately and courteously.
* Safely operate, clean, and maintain all equipment.
* Meet or exceed productivity standards.
* Keep the front end clean and professional in appearance.
* Handle returns, exchanges, and price adjustments courteously and efficiently.
* Monitor front end activity and make adjustments to meet customer needs.
* Assist cashiers with transactions as needed.
* Act as a cashier when required to ensure a friendly customer experience.
* Resolve customer complaints professionally and involve management when necessary.
* Comply with health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
* Follow all governmental regulations regarding weights, measures, alcohol, tobacco, and food assistance programs.
* Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
* Possess basic math and reading skills.
Non-Essential Job Functions
* Promote ads and specials to increase sales.
* Use the Kronos system to submit reports and collaborate with the Accounting Team.
* Complete additional tasks as directed by management and support other departments as needed.
Physical Abilities
The following physical actions may be required during shifts:
Essential Abilities
* Push and pull grocery items and carts, up to 10 lbs.
* Stand and walk for long periods on hard surfaces.
* Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. to a height of 34 inches.
* Bending and squatting, including reaching floor level.
Non-Essential Abilities
* Climb a ladder up to 5 ft.
Qualifications and Education
Preferred: High School diploma or equivalent.
