Job summary

The Rapid in Grand Rapids, MI is hiring Bus Operators for November 2026 Bus Operator Training Academy. You will safely operate a transit bus on assigned routes and deliver high-quality customer service to riders.

No CDL experience is needed for paid training; first-year pay ranges from $52,769.60 to $57,173 annually, plus benefits and a retirement plan. Flexible schedules include nights, weekends, and holidays to fit your life.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with Passenger and Airbrake Endorsements.
• Valid Michigan Driver's license with less than 4 points.
• Ability to pass and maintain a DOT physical.
• Be drug free.
• Maintain an excellent driving record.
• Minimum of one year related experience.

What You Will Need

• Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with Passenger and Airbrake Endorsements.
• Possess a valid Michigan Driver's license with less than 4 points. Points greater than 4 will automatically disqualify the applicant from consideration.
• Ability to pass and maintain a DOT physical.
• Be drug free.
• Maintain an excellent driving record.
• Able to interpret and follow run guidelines for assigned routes.
• High school diploma or GED.
• The ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee and customer safety.
• Able to safely secure mobility devices in accordance with FTA rules for ADA passengers.
• Minimum of one year related experience.
