Job summary

Dollar Tree Stores in Bluefield, WV is seeking a friendly retail associate to assist customers, handle transactions at the register, and maintain store cleanliness and stock levels.

You will work with a team to deliver a positive shopping experience, manage merchandising and restock tasks, and ensure safety and respectful interactions. High school diploma preferred; retail experience helpful; lifting up to 50 lbs required; hours may vary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Able to lift 30–50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and interpret procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with questions and recommendations.
• Manage sales transactions at the assigned cash register.
• Maintain security of cash and protect company assets.
• Keep the store well-stocked and recover merchandise.
• Receive merchandise and assist with unloading trucks and stock replenishment.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness, including bathrooms, floors, and trash disposal.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with questions and recommendations
• Manage sales transactions while working assigned cash register
• Maintain security of cash and protect company assets
• Keep the store well-stocked, and recover merchandise
• Receive merchandise and help with unloading trucks, stock replenishment in accordance with productivity standards
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment while maintaining professional and friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders
• Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness throughout the store, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out the trash, and ensuring all areas are neat and presentable
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Previous customer service experience in retail, hotel, restaurant, grocery, or drug store environment is highly preferred
• Ability to follow instructions and interpret operational documents is required
• Must be able to lift between 30 and 50 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting
• Excellent customer service and relationship management skills are required
• Strong organizational and communication skills are required
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills are required
