Job summary

Knowles Cornell Dubilier is seeking a Customer Quality Engineer to ensure purchased materials, components, and services meet quality and regulatory requirements. You will work with suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues, strengthen supplier capabilities, and support reliable high-performance products.

You will drive CAPA programs, root-cause analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to improve process robustness and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of statistical process control and measurement system analysis.
  • Ability to interpret engineering blueprints and GD&T where applicable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with negotiation ability.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary contact for clients regarding quality issues and feedback.
  • Apply root-cause analysis (5-Why, Fishbone, Six Sigma) to field failures and internal defects.
  • Ensure compliance with QMS and AS9100; manage quality documentation and regulatory deliverables.
  • Develop, track, and implement CAPA plans to stop defective parts from reaching customers.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and design to improve product reliability and communicate CIP programs to customers.
  • Analyze field warranty data, manage RMAs, and develop Pareto analyses; implement corrective actions.
  • Build customer relationships and channels for rapid technical requests.
  • Relay customer feedback to product and engineering teams to prioritize improvements and fixes.

Job description

The Customer Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that purchased materials, components, and services consistently meet Knowles Cornell Dubilier’s quality, engineering, regulatory, and customer requirements. This position will work closely with suppliers and internal Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues, strengthen supplier capabilities, reduce risk, and support the delivery of reliable, high-performance products.

Responsibilities/daily tasks
  • Customer Advocacy: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding quality issues, concerns, and feedback.
  • Root Cause & Troubleshooting: Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 5-Whys, Fishbone diagrams, Six Sigma) to resolve field failures and internal defects.
  • Compliance & Deliverables: Oversee quality documentation and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements from QMS and specifically AS9100.
  • Corrective Actions: Develop, track, and implement CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) plans to stop defective parts from reaching the customer.
  • Continuous Improvement: Work with manufacturing and design teams to prevent process variations and improve overall product reliability. Ensure appropriate and timely communications of CIP (Continuous Improvement Process) programs to the customer and support effective and appropriate change management, in accordance with agreed upon customer requirements
  • Warranty Analysis: Monitor field warranty data, RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) processes, and customer scorecards to mitigate financial impacts. Develop Pareto of customer complaints and set up a corrective action plan.
  • Customer Experience: Develop customer relationships and communication channels to improve rapid response to customer Quality technical requests.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Relay customer feedback and usage data to product and engineering departments to prioritize system improvements, feature requests, and bug fixes.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain a technical knowledge base (FAQs, troubleshooting steps) and compile reports detailing the nature and frequency of technical issues.
  • Test: Overseeing inspection and test processes to assure customer requirements
  • Process Robustness: Performs quality reviews of catalyst design-FMEA for compliance with stated customer requirements, specifications, and quality records
Education and experience Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing), Quality Management, or a closely related technical field
  • Experience: 3 to 6 years of experience in quality control, assurance, or manufacturing
Skills:

Technical Skills: Deep understanding, statistical process control (SPC), measurement system analysis (MSA), and interpreting engineering blueprints.

Soft Skills:

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, negotiation abilities, and the capacity to lead cross-functional teams in high-pressure situations.
