Job summary

Vernet Group is seeking a Customer Quality Engineer to investigate and resolve customer quality problems, lead corrective actions and support quality system development. You will conduct audits, review PPAP/Fix statuses, and participate in APQP for new parts and changes, while calibrating gages as needed.

This role emphasizes root-cause analysis, 8D/problem solving, strong communication with customers, and adherence to quality standards in aerospace or automotive contexts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in quality in aerospace or automotive environments.
• Proficient with quality system methodologies (8D, Lean, PPAP, FAIR, APQP, Control Plans, PFMEA).
• Strong problem solving, project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, analyze and resolve customer quality issues; conduct audits and monitor corrective actions.
• Lead 8D problem-solving updates with root-cause analysis.

Job description

The Customer Quality Engineer is responsible for investigating, analyzing and resolving customer quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends and leading customer based continuous improvement. Also, responsible for supporting quality system development, inspection, customer quality assurance and interfacing with customer. This includes PPAP/FAIR submission to customers, participation in internal and external customer corrective actions and participating in APQP for all programs (new parts and engineering revision changes). Calibrate a variety of gages including calipers, pressure gages, torque wrenches.

• Monitor customer complaints and the status of corrective actions.
• Complete assigned Layered Audits
• Review and monitor the status of upcoming PPAP’s/FAIR
• Review and monitor any current internal quality issues.
• Attend production meeting for status on the production floor.
• Review all job-related assignments within ERP.
• Lead periodic 8D update meeting including root cause analysis.
• Attend ECR meeting when assigned as quality contact.
• Perform internal audit for TS-16949 and AS9100 when required
• Other duties as assigned.

3 years of experience in the Quality Department within the aerospace or automotive industry.

• Knowledge of various quality system methodologies (8D, Lean Manufacturing, PPAP, FAIR, APQP,Control Plans, PFMEA, root cause analysis).
• Excellent problem solving, project management and attention to detail skills. Must have the ability to problem solve, handle tasks in a priority manner make decisions and/or give recommendations from results.
• Excellent verbal and written skills along with customer service resolution abilities.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer
• Constant need for the accurate exchange of information through the phone, computer, and in-person
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for over 50% of day
• Frequently moves safely about the building to conduct business
• Constantly must wear common protective or safety equipment – ANSI Z87.1 2003 standard safety glasses are required in plant.
