Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every visit special.
• Operate the cash register accurately and process payments including cash, checks, cards, coupons, food stamps, WIC, rain checks, and lottery transactions.
• Count back change, issue receipts, and provide refunds or credit memos as needed.
• Comply with regulations for WIC, food stamps, tobacco, liquor, and lottery sales.
• Bag merchandise, assist courtesy personnel, and support drive-up and carry-out service.
• Unload product, stock shelves, and rotate merchandise for freshness and proper presentation.
• Stock, face, rotate, clean shelves, and assist customers to items when requested.
• Know item lookup numbers, department numbers, and weekly ad price changes.
• Keep the register area clean, monitor supplies, and report cash discrepancies.
• Verify register balances at shifts start/end as applicable.
• Communicate clearly via intercom/phone and follow up with staff.
• Maintain store safety and security awareness.
• Assist in displays and promotions and other store tasks as needed.
• Maintain hygiene, dress standards, and Hy-Vee policies; report to work on time.
