Job summary

Save A Lot in New Jersey is seeking a store clerk to join our team. You will handle checkout, stock shelves, and maintain store cleanliness while delivering friendly service to customers. The role requires flexibility to work across departments and participate in training and safety practices.

The position emphasizes teamwork and accurate cash handling. The store emphasizes safety, reliability, and a helpful attitude for daily operations.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Proven, efficient retail sales experience; experience in dry grocery, perishable, meat, general grocery, cash management and excellent customer service preferred
• Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills
• Must be able to read, write and speak in English
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication, interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in basic math skills required, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and basic computer skills
• Must be dependable and flexible to work scheduled shifts, including a willingness to work in other areas of the store as needed with little or no advance notice
• Must adhere to safety standards
• Must adhere to a uniform dress code

Responsibilities

• Operates cash register and conducts checkout with accuracy and speed.
• Follows checkout and cash handling procedures.
• Stocking and maintaining grocery, dairy, meat and perishables to standard.
• Assists with unloading delivery trucks.
• Stacks products on shelves, displays, and refrigerated cases.
• Operates equipment to move stock after training.
• Collects carts from the parking lot.
• Keeps store in excellent condition.
• Maintains safe and clean work environment.
• Completes assigned cleaning tasks.
• Provides courteous customer service.
• Assists management in training team members.
• Rotates dated and undated products properly.
• Ensures price tags and signage and correct displays.
• Protects property, funds and merchandise.
• Displays and prepares fresh produce as authorized.
• Assists meat dept staff as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
