Job summary

Smith's Food & Drug Centers is hiring a friendly Cashier/Checker to create an outstanding customer experience in our store. You will greet customers, process transactions quickly and accurately at the check lane, and answer questions about products and promotions.

You will operate the POS system, handle cash, checks, credit and debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, and loyalty offers in accordance with store policies while maintaining accuracy and a welcoming environment for all customers.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Responsibilities

• Greeting, engaging and assisting customers at the checkout
• Process transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently
• Operate POS system and handle cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, WIC and loyalty offers per policy
• Adhere to cash handling limits and loss prevention guidelines
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs)
• Report pricing discrepancies and follow store policies
• Stay current with ads and promotions
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety programs
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs
• Provide friendly service to all customers throughout the store
