Job summary

Clarkson University is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic General Duty to support campus facilities with preventative maintenance and repair of buildings and machinery. The role emphasizes customer service and teamwork to meet campus needs.

You will perform carpentry, electrical, plumbing and painting tasks, inspect drives, motors and belts, and assist with Life/Safety inspections and energy management. Safety and high housekeeping standards are expected at all times.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree or work experience equivalent.
• Experience: One year of experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on buildings and machinery to ensure smooth operation.
• Inspect drives, motors, belts, and replace filters; follow checklists.
• Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other building components.
• Perform minor plumbing and electrical work not requiring a license.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping; assist with Life/Safety inspections and campus energy management.
