Job summary

ShopRite in Elmwood Park, NJ is hiring for a Cashier at our Inserra NJ location. Provide friendly, efficient checkout service, accurately scan and bag products, process payments, and assist customers to ensure a positive shopping experience.

The role supports a fast-paced front-end team and requires standing for extended periods, safety-consciousness, and adherence to company policies. The store emphasizes safety, friendliness, presentation, and efficiency in daily operations.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances.
• Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during housekeeping duties.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures.
• Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to work all assigned schedules and comply with time/attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
• Clean and sanitize surfaces, utensils and equipment per QA standards.
• Keep floor clear of debris and spills.
• Perform duties in accordance with health, safety, and company policies and regulations.
• Dress and groom according to policy, including uniform and name badge.
• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Operate the cash register and follow cash handling procedures.
• Identify and scan products accurately and efficiently.
• Process all forms of payment per guidelines.
• Promote current charitable promotions to customers.
• Bag customer orders safely and efficiently.
• Handle damaged or return-to-stock items per policy, prioritizing perishables.
• Know product locations and maintain knowledge of store items.
