Cummins Inc. in Columbus, IN is seeking a Customer Engineering Product Specialist to partner with OEM customers and internal teams to deliver critical product data, installation requirements, and technical guidance for successful equipment integration and performance.
You will influence product selection and system design, drive improvements in installation quality, and act as the primary technical liaison to ensure customer needs are reflected in development and program decisions.
We are looking for a talented Customer Engineering Product Specialist to join our team specializing in engineering for our Cummins' business in Columbus, IN.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Partner with Subject Matter Experts, VPI teams, and OEM customers to deliver critical product data, installation requirements, and technical guidance that enable successful equipment integration and performance.
Influence OEM machine quality, reliability, and optimization by making informed decisions on product selection, application design, and system integration strategies.
Drive continuous improvement in installation quality and engineering processes by leveraging tools such as Advisor, COLS, and GCE to support efficient, data-driven decision making.
Serve as the primary technical liaison for customers, building trusted relationships while managing specifications, product changes, technical inquiries, and complex installation issue resolution.
Translate customer feedback and Voice of the Customer insights into functional product requirements, ensuring customer needs are reflected in product development and program decisions.
Champion customer and market requirements within Cummins by participating in new product development programs, design reviews, and product change initiatives.
Ensure successful product application and installation by validating prototype performance, maintaining compliance with Cummins installation standards, and utilizing ALD and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize results.
Lead business-impacting projects and technical initiatives while mentoring engineers, improving work processes, influencing technical direction, and serving as a recognized subject matter expert within the organization.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required. Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.
Additional Details:
Provides primary Customer Engineering support for assigned OEM customers by leading all activities impacting OEM: technical issue resolution, managing engineering change activities, supporting new product launches, and serving as the technical interface between Cummins and the customer.
Coordinates cross-functional efforts across Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Sales to ensure successful product integration, customer satisfaction, and timely execution of business commitments.
Regular opportunities to providing leadership updates to CES, Cummins, and OEM.
Work will include developing strong external relationships and communication with levels above and below yourself for assigned OEM.
