Job summary

Vertiv in Green Bay, Wisconsin seeks a Field Service Technician to perform scheduled and remedial service on 2-120 kVA UPS, power distribution units and battery systems. You will build strong rapport with customers and colleagues while supporting Edge market segment deployments.

You will travel to customer sites, provide on-site and remote assistance, maintain safety standards and document service activities, aiming for first-time fixes and high customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • ASEET or AMEET certification, or progress toward it.
  • High school diploma or vocational school diploma.
  • 2‑4 years of military experience in a related technical field.
  • 0‑2 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance technical and administrative tasks.
  • Collaborative with peers, customers, suppliers and leadership.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental conditions and test equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and company software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform service tasks as assigned, following company policies and procedures.
  • Work under supervision or independently once training is complete.
  • Provide on-site and phone assistance to customers.
  • Communicate with Technical Support for technical or procedural issues.
  • Implement Field Change Notices per published guidelines.
  • Keep current on Safety Bulletins, Field Change Notices and Service Tips.
  • Operate safety guidelines.
  • Maintain and operate company vehicle per policy.
  • Wear PPE and adhere to work-hours policy.
  • Report all work-related accidents or injuries within 24 hours.
  • Complete accurate administrative tasks (time cards, expense reports, mileage reports, service requests, closure).
  • Maintain inventory and perform cycle counts.
  • Provide proper communication to customers, including ETA and completion docs.
  • Strive for first-time fix and high customer satisfaction.
  • Maximize productivity by pairing service opportunities.
  • Complete technical and administrative work efficiently and on time.
  • Make technical and commercial decisions under pressure and evaluate billing status.
  • Maintain productive utilization rate and dress/safety compliance.
  • Meet or exceed on-site response times.
  • Follow startup/escalation processes and procedures.
  • Maintain internal communication levels.

Job Overview: The Field Service Technician is primarily responsible for scheduled and remedial (break‑fix) service on small to medium UPS, Power Distribution Units and battery system products (2‑120 kVA) serviced by Vertiv. The role requires establishing excellent rapport with customers, co‑workers and sales representatives, and supporting products sold to the “Edge” market segment (retail, financial, and municipal customers).

Responsibilities
  • Perform service tasks as assigned, following company policies and procedures.
  • Work under supervision or independently once training is complete.
  • Provide on‑site and phone assistance to customers.
  • Communicate with Technical Support for technical or procedural issues.
  • Implement Field Change Notices per published guidelines.
  • Keep current on Safety Bulletins, Field Change Notices and Service Tips.
  • Operate in a safe manner in accordance with published safety guidelines.
  • Maintain and operate company vehicle in accordance with local laws and company policy.
  • Wear appropriate PPE and adhere to work‑hours policy.
  • Report all work‑related accidents or injuries within 24 hours.
  • Complete accurate administrative tasks (time cards, expense reports, mileage reports, service request closure, service reports).
  • Maintain inventory and perform cycle counts.
  • Provide proper communication to customers, including estimated time of arrival and completion documentation.
  • Strive to deliver a “first‑time fix” and maintain customer satisfaction rates.
  • Maximize productivity by combining service opportunities.
  • Complete all technical and administrative work efficiently and on time.
  • Make technical and commercial decisions under pressure and evaluate billing status.
  • Maintain productive utilization rate and adhere to company dress code and safety regulations.
  • Meet or exceed on‑site response time requirements.
  • Follow startup/escalation processes and procedures.
  • Maintain proper internal communication levels.

Work Conditions
  • Travel to customer sites within and outside the district as required.
  • Predominantly scheduled maintenance with occasional unscheduled service.
  • Drug test and background check required; valid driver’s license with limited violations.
Physical Requirements

Regular standing, walking, use of hands and fingers, handling tools or components, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lb (occasionally 75 lb). Requires normal vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must meet all other stated physical ability requirements.
