Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store associate to be the point of contact for customers, assist in setting plan-o-grams, stock merchandise and help maximize profitability and teamwork. You will help unload trucks, build displays, rotate stock, assist shoppers, and operate the cash register to complete transactions.

Expect a fast-paced environment with frequent walking and standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, and adherence to safety policies.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock merchandise; receive and unpack cartons.
• Build merchandise displays and rotate stock on shelves.
• Assist customers by locating items and answering questions.
• Operate cash register, itemize purchases, bag merchandise, and handle payments.
• Assist with ordering merchandise using handheld scanners when needed.
• Clean front end, restrooms, stockroom; comply with company policies.
