Overview:

The MongoDB / Elasticsearch / Linux Sysadmin / Ansible Engineer supports various database and automation tasks in a 24/7 Linux environment.

A good candidate has knowledge that could be gained with one of the following:

· 2+ years of experience with either MongoDB or Elasticsearch application support, DBA, or development.

· 3+ years of experience with other database application support, DBA, or development.

· 2+ years of Linux system administration.

· 2+ years of Linux system automation.

We will provide training for required expertise in database application support, Linux system administration, and other technologies as needed.

Responsibilities include:

• Issue resolution for database application alerts, upgrades, patching, security, data restorals, replication, backups, and performance tuning.
• Operating system and network troubleshooting.
• Collaborating with other teams such as DBAs, SREs, account managers, and developers.
• Responding to customer requests via tickets and chats, monitoring alerts, and ensuring system performance and data protection.
• Managing moderate to complex customer issues that may take multiple days to resolve.

This position is for shift 2 and shift 3 in a support engineer team providing 24/7 operations support for MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and other database services in a Linux environment.

Due to the 24x7 nature of the role, support engineers must work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, nights, and handling emergency escalations. Support engineers participate in on-call rotations during regular shifts.

Important skills and experience:

• Excellent troubleshooting skills for quick and effective issue resolution.
• Experience managing MongoDB, Elasticsearch, or other database configurations.
• Good understanding of Linux OS, especially Debian and CentOS distributions.
• Strong team collaboration, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote team environment.

Useful skills and experience:

• Deep understanding of MongoDB or Elasticsearch database concepts.
• Experience supporting enterprise database systems.
• Scripting skills with shell scripting or Python.
• Configuration management and orchestration with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Exposure to technologies like Redis, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Hadoop, and Kafka.
