Job description

SUMMARY

Prepare, cook, serve and cleanwork and dining areas and other duties as described below orasassigned by supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other dutiesmay be assigned within classification.

  1. Assistwithsetup,serving,andcleaningofanystationasassigned
  2. Take,prepare,andserve ordersforpatrons
  3. Responsible for stir-frying, sautéing, bakingpizza, breads, convenience bakedgoods, cookies, carving, slicing deli items; grilling and frying rawproteins as required for assigned station (e.g. hamburgers, chicken breast/fingers, pork chops etc.)
  4. Heatitemsfordailyspecials. Itemswillbeeitherpreparedbyacookandreadytoheatorwillbeconvenience-type items such as, but not limitedto,soups, chili,casserole-style dishes, etc. Use oven,steamer,charbroiler,griddle, pastamaker,pastacooker,orfryerasappropriate
  5. Merchandiseandensurecorrectsignageforassigned station
  6. Greet guests, check ID'sandsell guesttickets asassigned; complete sales onPOS system as appropriate.
  7. Stockdisplaycasesandreach-inrefrigerators
  8. Stockitemsforsaleorservice
  9. Clean and fillbeverage machines, beverage stations and insure thatappropriate cups, glasses and utensils are available at all times of service
  10. Responsible for diningroom cleanliness and appearance, to include, but notlimitedto, tables; chairs in an orderly fashion; pick upnapkins, papers, and any other large items off floor
  11. Sort silverware andfilldispensers, maintaining supply of clean dishes atservice points,fill salt and pepper shakers, fill napkin dispensers
  12. If assigned to the dishroom, dutiesmay include scraping ofdishes, ReuseMore containers and utensils, operating conveyor, and the proper storage of all items
  13. Cleanrefrigerators,freezers,andallequipment used
  14. Cover,date,andlabel allfood itemstobe stored
  15. Assistinfoodproductioninany area ofDiningServices asassignedwithinclassification
  16. Assistinspecial events/cateringeventsasassigned
  17. Set upinfirmaryordersandassist in delivery
  18. Responsible for cleanliness and organization ofitems stored in buffets/closetsand incentral receiving
  19. Takecareofwashinganddryingalllaundryandstoreinproperplaceswhenassigned
  20. Sellalcoholic beverages incompliance withNYS Liquor Authority and Skidmore College regulations
  21. Frequently check and recordtemperatures offoodthroughout the day in accordance with Dining Services policies and New York State Board of Health Policies
  22. Clean carts, bleach dishes, trays, glasses, burnish silver, polish silver, and other special event items·
  23. Testnewrecipeswhenrequested
  24. Ensureallfoodisprepared,servedandstored in accordancewithNYSHealth Codes
  25. Conferwith supervisorastoextradutiesinfoodpreparationandcleaninginassignedarea
  26. Scrubchairs, tables,and allequipment weekly
  27. Maintainademonstratedinterestinlearning new ideas
  28. Ability to speak and listeneffectively andrespectfully withsupervisors, customers, andemployees of the College
  29. Maintainanappropriateimageanddress
  30. Establishandmaintainahighlevelofcustomer service

QUALIFICATION

EDUCATIONand/or EXPERIENCE

HighSchool diploma orgeneral education degree(GED); andsixmonthsprevious work-related work experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination.

LANGUAGESKILLS

Abilitytoreadandinterpret documentssuchassafetyrules, operatingandprocedure manuals.

MATHEMATICALSKILLS

Ability to add, subtract and multiply inculinary weights andmeasurements. Ability to count money and make change accurately.

REASONINGABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding tocarry outinstructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to dealwith problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Ability to utilize or learnbasic computer functions.

Serv-Safe/HACCPCertified withinoneyear of employmentfromclassificationdate.

Pay rate: $19.77/hour
