The Opportunity

As Customer Area Compliance Lead, you will oversee the comprehensive compliance program for the Molecular Lab Customer Area and the Portfolio & Project Management Global Function (together, the “designated business units”) within Roche Diagnostics Solutions ("RDS"). Operating at a Senior Director level, you will serve as the primary compliance authority and strategic partner to executive business leaders, shaping cross-functional governance and mitigating complex global risks. This role will also support the compliance management program for key US Diagnostics sites.

In this Senior Director-level capacity, you will architect and manage the governance and strategic framework for compliance and business sustainability, foster a culture of integrity, drive global compliance risk management, and deliver state-of-the-art compliance programs with a proactive, business-oriented approach. You will collaborate closely with the RDS Compliance leadership team and the broader global Diagnostics compliance network.

You will report directly to the DIA RDS Compliance Lead and drive continuous, strategic improvement of the overall Compliance Management Program.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
  • Design and implement compliance strategy for the designated business units in alignment with Group and Divisional Compliance priorities and objectives.
  • Define the compliance strategic roadmap for the designated business units through cross-functional collaboration and engagement with local, regional, and global stakeholders
  • Drive designated business unit strategy implementation support and build the organizational skills and capacity necessary to realize the Diagnostics Vision
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in the designated business units for the entire Diagnostics compliance community, driving and actively contributing to any initiative related to these areas
  • Enable sustainable business operations by providing proactive and pragmatic compliance advice that includes the identification, management, and improvement of key compliance risks across the designated business units to support risk management and compliance assurance
  • Partner with designated business unit organizations to co-create value with and for key stakeholders and support the culture of integrity. Enable a learning environment and keep customers at the center of activities
  • Develop and deliver compliance training for the employees of the designated business units, and collaborate with RDS Compliance to ensure RDS employees are properly trained on compliance resources, risk areas, policies and procedures, and reporting activities.
  • Advise and participate in governance bodies of the designated business unit organizations and the DIA compliance organization
  • Keep apprised of industry trends and national and international legal, regulatory, and political decision-making processes to safeguard the interests of Roche
  • Support and provide input to the representative of Roche in the Ethics & Code Committee of AdvaMed and other industry and similar associations
  • Contribute to the compliance management program for US sites, including supporting the architecture and implementation of the governance and strategic framework for compliance and business sustainability, developing and delivering training, conducting monitoring activities, and supporting risk and opportunity assessment and management as needed
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's Degree is required
  • 10+ years relevant work experience (or 7+ years with JD) with demonstrated knowledge of the life sciences industry and legal and regulatory environment (e.g., compliance, legal, regulatory, medical affairs, marketing, audit, risk, assurance or governance), ideally with international and people management experience.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Decisive, high-integrity leader skilled at guiding multicultural, matrixed, and virtual teams toward shared enterprise goals
  • Complex Problem-Solving: Adept at rapidly analyzing complex situations to deliver practical, pragmatic, and high-impact business solutions
  • Stakeholder & Change Management: Strong facilitator capable of bridging silos, aligning conflicting interests, and driving organizational transformation
  • Project Management Excellence: Structured and results-oriented approach to executing high-stakes healthcare and medtech initiatives

Location

Primary preference for Pleasanton, CA. Other U.S. Roche hub locations (Tucson, AZ; Indianapolis, IN) will be considered.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Pleasanton, CA is $153,600.00 - $339,800. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job‑related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
