Job summary

Goebel, a precision metal fabrication specialist in Hutchinson, Minnesota, seeks a skilled Custom Metal Fabricator to join its Metal Shop. You will fabricate, assemble, and finish high-end fixtures, using TIG and laser welding on stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and mild steel.

You will read and interpret fabrication drawings, lay out parts, maintain tight tolerances, and collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet ambitious craftsmanship standards.

Qualifications

• TIG (GTAW) welding experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Experience fabricating with stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and mild steel.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and finish custom metal components and fixtures to specification.
• Perform precision TIG and Laser welding on stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and mild steel.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and shop documents.
• Lay out, fit, form, and assemble metal parts while maintaining tight tolerances.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and project requirements are met.
• Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and recommend practical solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, woodworking, finishing, and production teams to ensure project success.
• Maintain a safe and organized work area.
• Meet production schedules while maintaining Goebel's high standards of craftsmanship and quality.
• Support continuous improvement efforts within the department.

The ideal candidate has experience reading blueprints, fabricating components, and performing high-quality TIG and Laser welds on stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and mild steel. Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Experience fabricating with stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and mild steel.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.

Preferred

• Handheld laser welding experience.
• 1-2 year welding/fabrication degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience building custom, architectural, or fixture-based metal products.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with manufacturing software systems.
