Job summary

CenterPoint is seeking a Custom Cabinet Finisher to prepare, finish, paint, and quality check exhibit components and crates. The role coordinates the paint shop workflow, prioritizes work, and orders materials under the supervision of Production and Project Managers.

Join our production team to deliver high-quality trade show booths and exhibits, contributing to client brand presentation and meeting project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Technical degree or apprenticeship beneficial but not required.
• Three years of painting, finishing, cabinetry, manufacturing, or related experience required.
• Strong knowledge of surface prep, painting, staining, and finishing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Read shop drawings and finish schedules to complete assigned finishing work.
• Prepare materials for painting through sanding, filling, masking, cleaning, and priming.
• Apply paint, stain, clear coat, and other finishes with spray equipment.
• Mix and match paints to achieve specified colors and finishes.
• Inspect finished work and perform touch-ups to ensure quality and consistency.
• Coordinate daily paint department workload to support production schedules.

As a Custom Cabinet Finisherat CenterPoint, this person is responsible for preparing, finishing, painting, and quality checking exhibit components and crates and ensuring finishes meet customer expectations and quality standards. This role coordinates the workflow in the paint shop, prioritizes work, orders paint and supplies, and collaborates with the Production Manager and Project Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and understand shop drawings, production drawings, finish schedules, and project specifications to complete assigned finishing work.
• Prepare materials for painting and finishing through sanding, filling, masking, cleaning, and priming.
• Apply paint, stain, clear coat, and other finishes using spray equipment and appropriate finishing techniques.
• Mix and match paints and stains to achieve specified colors, samples, and finish standards.
• Inspect completed work and perform necessary touch-ups to ensure consistency, quality, and appearance.
• Coordinate daily paint department workload and priorities to support production schedules and project deadlines.
• Communicate finish concerns, rework needs, material requirements, and schedule impacts to Production Management and other appropriate team members.
• Monitor paint and finishing supply inventory and coordinate ordering to ensure materials are available to meet production needs.
• Maintain paint booths, equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
• Troubleshoot finish, adhesion, color matching, equipment, and other paint-related issues as they arise.
• Adhere to production estimates to manage time effectively and complete assigned work within established timelines.
• Consistently demonstrate the ability to work with others in a team environment and take direction.
• Continuously develop and refine knowledge of the tradeshow industry and CenterPoint standards.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Technical Degree OR completion of related apprenticeship program is beneficial but not required.
• Three years of experience in painting, finishing, cabinetry, manufacturing, or related field is required.
• Strong knowledge of surface preparation, painting, staining, and finishing techniques.
• Ability to safely operate spray equipment and other finishing tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Ability to mix and match colors and maintain consistent finish quality.
• Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
• Demonstrate clear and effective communication skills.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem solving skills.
• Tradeshow industry experience a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods working on feet.
• Frequent stooping, bending, and operation of hand tools.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time.
