Job summary

WEST CENTRAL FS INC seeks an experienced agronomy worker to operate sprayers and trucks, applying crop inputs to fields per label rates and DOT standards. You will maintain records, handle blending, and ensure accurate delivery documentation.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid CDL with endorsements, and pesticide/fertilizer licenses where applicable. Expect extended hours, on-call duties, and strict safety practices in agricultural environments.

Purpose And Summary Statement

Operates commercial sprayer or floater for the purpose of applying crop inputs to producer fields. Operates and maintains single or tandem axle trucks, multi-axle configuration trucks for delivery and/or pick-up of agronomy and/or energy products and other equipment.

Essential Job Functions

• Applies crop production inputs to fields and growing crops according to recommended rates, procedures, and following all pesticide labels
• Records application data according to regulations and standards
• Sets up material handling, blending, storage, transport and application equipment for blending and delivery of products
• Blends products according to recommended rates and procedures
• Demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to safely operate sprayers, floaters, single or tandem axle trucks and other equipment to meet company and DOT standards
• Performs and records daily safety checks of assigned vehicle(s) and associated equipment by conducting pre-trip inspections, such as checking fuel and oil levels, inspecting tires, lights, and brakes
• Follows the preventative maintenance program and maintains a clean truck to present a professional appearance
• Loads and unloads containers, pallets, or materials and products, safely on/off trucks, trailers, or railcars
• Ensures products are evenly balanced and distributed on trucks/trailers and proper axle weights are met
• Responsible for the inventory control and turns in application records on a daily basis
• Assures all product is accounted for with either an invoice or delivery ticket.
• Ensures that all associated documentation, such as bills of lading, delivery slips, and invoices are completed accurately and returned to the branch location at the end of the day in order to ensure timely receiving and payment of invoices
• Completes necessary paperwork, including accurate logbooks, records of cargo and any other assigned record-keeping duties on a daily basis

Other Job Functions

• Responsible for maintaining, repairing, rebuilding, and/or servicing company equipment, vehicles, and structures as needed according to company standards
• Collects/records soil sample information using proper procedures
• Follows Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply
• Adheres to the company Uniform Policy, and maintains the appropriate professional image
• Performs all other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Normally requires a high school diploma or the equivalent thereof, and 2 years or more of related work experience
• Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
• Must have or have the ability to obtain and maintain a CDL license with required endorsements and any other applicable certification, license or permit, valid medical card and satisfactory driving record, as applicable.
• Must hold and maintain, or have the ability to obtain, all required pesticide or fertilizer applicator licenses or certifications in states where crop production inputs are applied
• Responsible for renewing licenses or certifications as required and reporting status of licenses or certifications to the Location Manager
• Ability to work extended hours and on-call as business conditions warrant
• Occasionally exposed or required:
• Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)
• Noisy conditions
• Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures
• May be required to work at varying heights
• Lift 51 - 70 lbs.
