Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Valid driver's license in Mississippi or Alabama with acceptable driving record.
• Must complete annual in-service training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Search for contraband and provide security.
• Count, feed and supervise inmates in housing, work and other areas.
• Provide custody and security of inmates, including observation of inmates.
• Perform security of various assigned areas.
• Read, review and apply information from inmate health and safety records and security documents.
• Prepare and maintain records, forms and reports.
• May work overtime when directed.
• Promote positive social skills by modeling appropriate behavior and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
• Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
