Job summary

Daytona State College is seeking a team-oriented custodial worker to maintain clean and safe campus spaces in the Daytona Beach area. The role focuses on daily cleaning, floor care, and trash removal in classrooms, labs, and common areas.

The position requires physical stamina, a valid Florida driver's license, and forklift certification within a year. Work hours are 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with occasional travel to other college locations as assigned.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months recent and verifiable custodial building cleaning and floor maintenance experience.
• Must have their own transportation to report to other college locations as assigned.
• Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License to drive college vehicles when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Picks up and removes all trash from assigned areas in classrooms, labs, offices, restrooms and theatres, etc.
• Cleans chalkboards, blackboards, whiteboards, and erasers on a daily basis; turns off lights and secures doors.
• Damp and wet mops vinyl and tile floors; vacuums floors and carpets; performs floor maintenance as directed.

Job description

• This position requires six (6) months recent and verifiable custodial building cleaning and floor maintenance experience.
• Candidate must have a valid Florida Driver’s License to drive college vehicles when necessary.
• Candidate must have their own transportation to report to other college locations as assigned.
• Candidate must be forklift certified within one year of employment.

Working Hours: 12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

• Picks up and removes all trash from assigned areas in classrooms, labs, offices, restrooms and theatres, etc. (or other areas as directed). Cleans all chalkboards, blackboards, whiteboards, and erasers on a daily basis. Turns off all lights and secures doors.
• Cleans glass, chrome, and exits on all college facilities as designated, including but not limited to classrooms, labs, offices, theatres, lecture rooms, conference rooms, gymnasium, amphitheaters. etc.
• Damp and wet mops vinyl and tile floors. Vacuums floors and carpets. Performs floor maintenance such as vacuuming, shampooing, stripping and waxing, buffing, etc., in assigned areas as directed.

• This position requires walking, standing, stooping, stretching, pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting all of the time, exerting at least 20 pounds of force on a recurring basis.
• This position will experience exposure to indoor and outdoor temperatures.
• Must be able to follow oral and/or written communications.
• Must have computer knowledge to clock in/out and view other personnel related information.
