Custodian - Union County Head Start Centers

This position provides custodial services at Union County Head Start sites for approximately 10 hours per week from August through June. The custodial duties include maintaining cleanliness and safety in classrooms, common areas, and bathrooms.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial services in all classroom, common area, and bathroom spaces (excluding the kitchen).
• Carry out daily and weekly maintenance and cleaning tasks.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in the Oregon Child Care Division Central Background Registry by the time of application.
• Communicable Disease Verification from a qualified healthcare provider, with documentation (e.g., passport, driver’s license, official ID card, birth certificate, or social security card).
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic cleaning knowledge or experience, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting.
• Physical stamina to lift 25–50 lbs and to stand, bend, twist, reach, and walk for extended periods.
• Reliability and punctuality, with dependable attendance and ability to follow a routine cleaning schedule.
• Attention to detail to meet health and safety standards and to identify issues such as spills or damage.
• Basic communication skills, including the ability to understand and follow written or verbal instructions and to report issues to a supervisor.
• Ability to work independently and as a team with coworkers and staff.
• Basic knowledge of safety and hygiene practices, including safe storage of cleaning supplies and use of PPE when needed.
• Willingness to learn and train on the job.

Certification Requirements

• Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
• Oregon Food Handler’s Card within 30 days of hire.
