    Position:Custodian
    Department:Facilities
    Reports to:Custodial & Warehouse Supervisor (1st Level) / Facilities Director (2nd Level)
    FLSA Status:Non-Exempt (Hourly) – Service Employees International Union Local 32 BJ District 1201
    Schedule:Substitute
    Hourly Rate:$18.90/hour

    MISSION STATEMENT:
    The Upper Moreland Township School District is an educational institution working in partnership with the community to provide all students with educational opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, behaviors, and habits of mind necessary for excellence and success as critical thinkers, as caring and confident individuals, and as contributing members of society.

    SUMMARY:
    Maintains the safety and cleanliness of the assigned facility and performs light maintenance as directed.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
    (Other appropriate duties may be assigned.)
    • Maintains cleanliness of assigned bathroom areas as well as replenishment of supplies including, but not limited to, soap dispensers, toilet paper dispensers and paper towel dispensers as assigned.
    • Cleans and maintains assigned areas including but not limited to emptying trash, dusting, sweeping, mop/wet mopping, washing surfaces on a daily basis as assigned.
    • Utilizes power equipment including but not limited to, scrubbers and waxing equipment to provide heavier cleaning assistance as assigned.
    • Secures facility as assigned.
    • Light painting as assigned.
    • Provide set up assistance including chairs, tables etc, as assigned.
    • Shovel/salt walking surfaces surrounding the facility as assigned.
    • Maintain cleanliness of the outside area surrounding the facility as assigned.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Minimum of two years of prior work experience as a custodian
    • Strong communication skills both oral and written.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
    • Ability to work in extreme (hot and cold) weather conditions.
    • Ability to report to work in inclement weather conditions.
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crawl for a period of 8 hours per day.
    • Ability to work independently and maintain security of the building
    • Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements.
    • Candidate must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment.
