Job description

Summary:

Performs a variety of Environmental Services duties under leadership, including cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, corridors, public areas, offices, and changing cubicle curtains.

Responsible for daily cleaning, room turnover, and terminal cleaning of specialty areas such as Emergency Department, Operating Rooms, LDRP, NICU, CCN, and WETU.

Must adhere to Baystate Health System Operating Principles of communication, integrity, respect, trust, collaboration, and the Caring Values of quality, compassion, teamwork, service, and innovation.

Interacts positively with patients, families, and caregivers in a calm, professional manner.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Exhibit strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including greeting and scripting interactions with patients and customers.
  2. Maintain flexibility, organization, and prioritize work effectively.
  3. Collaborate with team members and unit staff.
  4. Meet health, safety, and attendance requirements.
  5. Follow system and department policies, laws, and regulations.
  6. Perform duties independently following departmental lists.
  7. Follow procedures and precautions for managing contaminated equipment, including hand hygiene, sharps safety, and PPE.
  8. Conduct daily terminal cleaning, maintain logs, and use UV-C disinfection technology.
  9. Clean and disinfect surfaces, equipment, and furniture.
  10. Properly remove waste, linen, and recyclables.
  11. Perform dusting and surface polishing.
  12. Clean floors, baseboards, corners, and edges daily.
  13. Change cubicle curtains as needed.
  14. Maintain a steady pace in high-intensity units.
  15. Disassemble, clean, and disinfect specialty equipment like operating tables.
  16. Move rolling stock such as stretchers and beds as required.
