POSITION: CUSTODIAN (non-exempt)

SUPERVISED BY: Custodial Supervisor

POSITION SUPERVISED: None

LOCATION: Raleigh, NC

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Graduate or GED

SALARY REQUIREMENTS: $17.75 w/ Paid Benefits
HOURS: M-F 7:00am - 11:00am

In partnership with AbilityOne, OE Enterprises manages numerous government contracts that provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Under the supervision of OE Enterprises, individuals with disabilities are able to enter the workforce and become independent, self-sufficient members of the community.

  • GENERAL FUNCTION: Perform janitorial duties under moderate supervision, cleaning and sanitizing the assigned work area in business or private homes. This position requires physical demands and the ability to perform related tasks as defined herein.
  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Clean, sweep, dust, mop, wash, and vacuum floors. Clean windows and mirrors, woodwork, furniture, and equipment. Clean toilet facilities and keep restrooms stocked with necessary cleaning supplies. Collect and dispose of trash from the building. Wash dishes and utensils. Wash mop heads and clean clothes in the washer; clean appliances (refrigerator, microwave, stove) inside and out every week. Identify and communicate questions/needs to the supervisor, i.e., when supplies are needed. Follow safety procedures concerning the use of chemicals.
  • SUPERVISION REQUIRED: Moderate supervision under normal operating conditions. Will operate independently and identify when to include supervisor in problem-solving.
  • KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Must be able to understand and consistently follow instructions and checklists—ability to perform assigned tasks safely and reliably. Maintain clean storage area for equipment and supplies. General knowledge of housekeeping and safely using cleaning tools, equipment, and supplies. Must have the ability to understand and follow verbal or written instructions or be able to do so with programming assistance.
  • MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: A high school degree or equivalent is preferred but not required. Up to 3 months of experience is helpful but not required. On-the-job training is acceptable.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to lift and push vacuum cleaners. Able to lift trash bags into dumpsters. Able to move chairs, tables, and other pieces of furniture to facilitate cleaning of floors or carpets. Able to lift to 25 pounds. Able to work on feet for the entire work period, typically 5 hours.
