Location - Propel Hazelwood

Propel seeks a Custodian for our Facilities Department. This position is based at Propel Hazelwood and is available immediately. The pay rate for this role is $15/hr. This position works year-round.

Job Summary

Propel Schools is the largest, fastest-expanding charter school in the state with a network of schools throughout Allegheny County. Propel Schools is dedicated to transforming public education so that all children have access to high-performing public schools.

Under moderate supervision, the selected candidate will perform janitorial duties involving cleaning and sanitizing the school facility and grounds, including but not limited to:

  • Wiping, sweeping, dusting, mopping, washing, vacuuming, polishing, and waxing floors
  • Cleaning windows, woodwork, furniture, and equipment
  • Cleaning restrooms and keeping them supplied with towels, soap, and other items
  • Collecting and disposing of trash from buildings and grounds
  • Performing unskilled maintenance work
  • Performing outside work such as cleaning walks, mowing lawns, and snow/ice removal

The custodian works as part of the Facilities Team and reports to the Director of Facilities.

Qualifications

Candidates must be 18 or older and have reliable transportation.

Work may involve a variety of physical demands. The selected candidate must be able to perform strenuous manual labor tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Moving furniture and equipment, lifting, climbing ladders
  • Following instructions concerning various chemicals
  • Lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Understanding and following verbal or written instructions
  • Functioning independently with supervisor support
  • General knowledge of housekeeping, tools, equipment, and supplies

Compensation and Benefits
  • Rate: $15/hr
