GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION : The Custodian will provide cleaning services at assigned locations to ensure a clean, safe, and professional appearance of campus buildings is maintained at all times. The custodian will report to the Assistant Superintendent of Support Services.
Job Duties
1. Work under the direction of the immediate Supervisor and Chief of Staff and perform all duties as assigned.
2. Perform all duties assigned in a timely manner.
3. Accountable for all tools, equipment, and supplies issued.
4. Perform all duties observing safety procedures and utilizing proper equipment (safety glasses, gloves, caution tape/tags, wet floor signs, etc.).
5. Responsible for the appearance and cleanliness of campus facilities.
6. Assist with the movement of equipment and furniture as well as setup and tear down for campus functions.
7. Responsible for adhering to established procedures.
8. Perform additional duties as assigned.
9. Work with other personnel as assigned.
10. As necessary, work special events as scheduled, and all other hours as required.
11. Must be able to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and other physically demanding duties.
12. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and walk up and down a flight of stairs.
13. Adhere to all college policies and procedures.
Mandatory Qualifications
M1 – High School Diploma or High School Equivalency.
M2 – Valid Driver’s License and must remain in good standing while employed.
M3 – Custodial experience.
M4 – Ability to communicate effectively with college personnel and students.
M5 – Ability to decorate and arrange accessories in a way that enhances the overall look and functionality, using creativity and a sense of style.
M6 – Responsible for organizing and maintaining supplies and decorations, ensuring all items are stored properly and easily accessible for upcoming events or tasks.
M7 – Assist in the setup and preparation of events, including arranging furniture, decorations, and equipment as needed to ensure the event space is ready on time.
Desirable Qualifications
D1 – Experience using a floor machine, buffer, or extractor.
D2 – Three or more years of custodial experience.
D3 – Custodial experience in an educational setting.
