Description

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the direction of the Maintenance Director, the Custodian is responsible for providing janitorial services to ensure the cleanliness of the facility and grounds, aligning with the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County's mission and policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, showers, restrooms, floors, walls, windows, and other assigned areas.
2. Empty waste containers inside and outside the building.
3. Replace soap, paper towels, and other supplies; report supply issues.
4. Assist in proper disposal of biohazard materials.
5. Maintain cleanliness of the pool area.
6. Perform dusting and clean entrances and offices.
7. Sanitize fitness equipment as needed.
8. Report building problems.
9. Perform sidewalk and exterior cleanup; dispose of trash.
10. Monitor licensed program spaces (preschool, summer camp) to meet regulations.
11. Set up furniture for events.
12. Assist with building setup and informational displays, including outdoor marquee.
13. Follow all YMCA policies, rules, and safety procedures.
14. Exemplify YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

At least six months of related experience preferred. Must have the physical ability to reach, bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 30 pounds. Ability to use equipment and chemicals safely, read labels and MSDS sheets, and follow instructions independently. Must work well with diverse backgrounds and respond quickly in emergencies.
