Job summary

Schillings is seeking a part-time Maintenance Custodian to support four locations including St. John, IN. The role fits up to 28 hours per week with varied shifts Monday through Saturday, focusing on keeping facilities clean, safe, and well-maintained.

You’ll handle routine maintenance, safety checks, waste collection, and stock closet supplies while assisting with remodels. Required: high school diploma and driver’s license, ability to lift 25 lbs, and clear communication with store teams.

Qualifications

• General maintenance experience required.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Able to lift 25 lbs, bend, and climb stairs or ladders.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance checks including fire safety equipment and HVAC filters.
• Collect garbage and perform general maintenance such as light bulbs and paint touch-ups.
• Identify and correct issues, keep stores clean, stocked, and organized.
• Assist with store remodels and maintain clean work areas as directed by management.
• Maintain supply closets and support store areas (bathrooms, break rooms, showrooms, offices).

Great news! Schillings is looking to hire a part‑time employee as the Maintenance Custodian for four of our current locations, including St. John, IN, Valparaiso, IN, Cedar Lake, IN, and Mokena, IL. The position will consist of working up to 28 hours a week. The hours will vary Monday through Saturday. Duties

• Routine Maintenance Checks

  • Fire System Drips
  • HVAC Filter change
• Collecting garbage
• General Maintenance
  • Light bulbs
  • Paint touch‑ups as needed
• Identify & correct anything that is out of place
• Assist with cleaning of the store (i.e., upkeep with bathroom supplies, paper towels, garbage, soap/hand sanitizer dispensers, etc.)
• Keep track and stock supply closets at all locations
• Assist with store remodel/demos by keeping the area clean and organized for crew
• Any other requests made by management
