Job Description: Custodian

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the custodian is responsible for maintaining the center premises and its equipment in a clean, safe, healthy, and comfortable condition inside and outside.

Responsibilities

1. Follow individual work schedules provided by the Director to indicate specific responsibilities and the scheduled times.
2. Cooperate in the overall staff effort to improve the center's service.
3. Participate in periodic individual conferences and staff meetings as scheduled by the Director, especially when changes in the children's program, policies, or budgetary needs are discussed.
4. Maintain cleanliness of floors, bathrooms, stairs, walkways, play yards, and the roof.
5. Remove garbage, clean containers, and care for cleaning equipment.
6. Keep cots, walls, light fixtures, and equipment clean and in good repair.
7. Perform regular cleaning of kitchen range hoods as required by fire safety regulations.
8. Manage inventory and distribute sanitary supplies; unpack and store new supplies.
9. Report needs for supplies, repairs, or replacements to the Director.
10. Make repairs and paint as needed, including furniture and play equipment.
11. Assist in moving equipment and furniture as required for outdoor and indoor activities.
